If bowling, skee ball, fantastic food, drinks, karaoke and jazz brunch weren’t enough, every Wednesday night at The Highball is Black Red Black, a powerhouse jazz trio featuring Ephraim Owens, Red Young and Brannen Temple. These Austin legends have decades of experience with incredible all-star collaborations and award winning projects under their belts. You’re in for such a treat for your ears, your tongue will be jealous.
Ephraim Owens has become a fixture in the Austin music scene since he got here in the mid 90s. He appeared in the documentary film, Before The Music Dies along with some of the country’s most influential musicians and he won the title of “Best Horn” from the Austin Chronicle. Red Young has toured with dozens of bands throughout the country and played with talents ranging from Willie Nelson to Dolly Parton to George Clinton. Brannen Temple has taken part in various projects and collaborated with artists like Chaka Khan and Janet Jackson, but probably most notably for his award winning band Blaze. You also may have seen him on The Tonight Show or Soul Train.
