There are so many options for the next few weeks of your lives, you might be temped to skip the whole thing due to overwhelming indecisiveness. Don’t do that! With all these options, there’s no excuse to be making the most of every minute of every day. Here’s another fantastic option: The rodeo is coming to town and it’s a big one! Huge acts will be playing Rodeo Austin including some country favorites like Clay Walker and Loretta Lynn as well as legendary rockers Joan Jett and Rick Springfield! Not to mention the other 14 days of awesome live performances, competitive rodeo events, carnival rides and all that damn delicious fried food we wait all year to eat.
Oh that’s not it. This is the Star of Texas Fair and Rodeo, y’all. There will be a Livestock show, BBQ Cook-off, Miss Rodeo Austin Scholarship Contest, Dairy Milking Show, Horse Show, Swifty Swine Pig Races, Medicine Man Show, Youth Western Art Show, Shopping and Chow Town Food Court for those fried mayonnaise balls or what have you. But wait, there’s more. The Rodeo Austin fairgrounds is an adventure for buckaroos of all ages offering Kidstown, youth calf scramble, Longhorn puppet show, Junior Livestock Show, pony rides and a petting zoo. Hot diddly!
There’s way too much to list here, but the full schedule and lineup can be found on their website. We promise, if you head down to the fairgrounds at the Travis County Expo Center any time between the days of March 11-26 you’ll be anything but disappointed.
The Star of Texas Fair and Rodeo has been a tradition in Austin since 1938, preserving western heritage in the Lone Star State. They work year round to raise funds for the Scholarship Program for 30 years, awarding millions in college scholarships and promoting youth eduction. You can donate to their scholarship fund online here. They’ve also been making significant efforts to go green by implementing environmental-friendly solutions on the fairgrounds and corporate headquarters. Last year, Rodeo Austin teamed up with Organics By Gosh and this year they’re announcing their 1st Annual Eco Art Youth Recycling Contest!
There’s so much cool stuff going on this month at Rodeo Austin, you’d be a fool to miss out on all the rootin’ tootin’ action. Check the listing to buy your tickets here.
