In the middle of all the SXSW craziness, March 13th-15th will mark the collaborative takeover of La Zona Rosa by Nikon Inc. and Warner Music group for 2 days and 3 nights of awesome showcase performances. Donned “The Warner Sound Captured by Nikon,” showcases will feature artists from Atlantic Records, Warner Bros. Records and other WMG labels. This means BIG names. How big, you ask? The 3 evening showcases and 2 day parties will feature well-established acts such as Santigold, B.O.B, Gary Clark Jr., T.I. and fun.
Here’s how it works: Nikon and Warner Music Group will put on 2 day parties the 14th and 15th, and they’re totally free. No badges required! The day show on the 14th will feature fun., Geographer, The Chain Gang of 1974 and Avalanche City. The second day show on the 15th will feature performances from Kimbra, Crystal Fighters, The Staves, We Are Augustines and Lost In The Trees.
Badges and wristbands will have priority for the evening showcases that will span from March 13-15th; however, limited tickets will be for sale at the door. Day 1 features Chuckie and Santigold. Day 2, Gary Clark Jr. and Dr. John. Day 3, B.O.B, DJ Drama and T.I. Those are just the main acts, and what’s equally worth seeing are the opening, up-and-coming buzz bands. If you’d like the extra opportunity to get into the showcases, Do512 is giving away 2 pairs of free tickets to each evening showcase, so make sure you enter for a chance to win!
If the music isn’t enough to lure you in, Nikon and WMG are also putting on a major contest in search for the next great music star, titled the “Your 1 Shot” contest. Bands and artists can submit one live performance to the contest’s site, and a panel of music industry extraordinaires, some who work for the above music labels, will choose a lucky winner. The winning artist will be transported to Austin where he/she/they will perform live on March 14th at the first free day show. The submission deadline has passed, but the winner is scheduled to be announced March 6th, so stay tuned!
This 3-day music extravaganza is going to be crazy fun, so make sure to at least stop by the free day parties to see some great acts!
