SnowBall Music Festival Day 1 Review

After a snowfall over night to create a winter wonderland, the stages were set and masses began to arrive. Gramatik began the afternoon acts with an exceptional show including the official drop of their new EP. A stacked afternoon of music including Major Lazer, Marty Party and Supervision were my personal stand outs of the day.

As the sun rolled behind the surrounding Rockies, the night took twist and turns with a mixed flavor of sound. Big Boi performed his standard crowd pleasing set including “new shit” and Outkast favorites including ‘Bombs over Baghdad’ and ‘So Fresh and So Clean’ to make the collective fans loose their minds.

It was the late show by Mimosa that stole the night. He threw out sounds that kept the dance moving and the beats fresh. This one man party starter from California showed Avon just what Snowball is about. New to the roster or a festival veteran, it’s not about who you are but how you perform and Mimosa was nothing shy of amazing.
Closing out the night with a brief stop at Rusko and onto Deer Tick. The difference between couldn’t have been more diverse however the common denominator of rowdiness. Hopping over from lasers to John McCauleuley the night left everyone in smiles and anticipation for more.
