Foreigner?! Talk about a blast from the past! You know you can’t help but sing along to their tunes whenever you hear them, whether you are a major fan of the band or not. “I want to know what love is… I want you to show me… I want to feel what love is… I know you can show me…” yeah, especially that one.
For all you Foreigner enthusiasts out there, prepare for a night to remember because the band is coming through Austin in May! You may remember them as a popular group from the late ‘70s and throughout the ‘80s, but what you may not know is that over the years, Foreigner has become a very charity oriented band. All the more reason to support them even further, right? We surely think so!
With a strong focus on enriching arts programs in our nation’s public school systems, Foreigner is giving one local Austin high school choir program the opportunity to sing the power ballad “I Want to Know What Love Is” onstage live with the band at the concert. The winning choir will also receive $500! How cool is that!
Choirs will be able to submit a video on the KLBJ website starting the third week of April. You and the rest of the Austin community get to vote on the choir you believe should perform with Foreigner live, which can be done here.
And that’s not all, friends… Foreigner will also be selling their exclusive CD, “Live in Nashville,” at the show with a portion of those proceeds benefiting The Grammy Foundation.
So start warming up those vocal chords of yours because you will need them on May 12 to sing along to all those Foreigner songs you love. The concert will take place at The Backyard at Bee Cave and starts at 6pm. Mark your calendars everybody and buy your tickets in advance here. But don’t forget to click “I like it” here for a chance to win one of ten pairs of free tickets!
