More and more, you can’t deny that this Fire Fest is blowing up! In a good way of course. Seems like it’s all the buzz around town! It’s no wonder the festival has been a popular topic of conversation amongst you local Austinites. After all, there will be 20 bands, fire dancing, glass blowing, 20,000 water balloons, firework popping, bloody marys, bazaar shopping, local food trucks, and you get to camp! The cherry on top of this unique fest is that it will be hosted by the one and only BP Fallon.
BP Fallon is awesome! He wears many hats, including a physical bolo hat, he’s also a performer, DJ, photographer, writer & broadcaster. He hosts a weekly web radio show called Wang Dang Doodle, and had this to say about FireFest, “You have things like the Austin City Limits festival in October with Jack White and Neil Young And Crazy Horse and The Stooges, brilliant lineup. Fire Fest is great too but different in that it’s a summer celebration of local Austin bands all on the up and all collected together for one day only. Everyone knows everyone, it’s very communal, the young bands in the Austin music scene. And it’s only $25.″ He also recently released his first record, produced by Jack White who plays a sexy bottleneck guitar in his single “I Believe in Elvis Presley.” He lives and breathes rock n roll, and to prove it, he once played the tom toms with Led Zeppelin live. You can’t beat that folks; he is destined to be a great host at Fire Fest.
Appearing on three stages are Black Pistol Fire, White White Lights, Leopold And His Fiction, The Sweet Nuthin, Wild Child, Black & White Years, Eric Tessmer Band, Eagle Claw, Scorpion Child, Peter & The Wolf, Holiday, La Migra, Gobi, The Docs, Purple, The Wolf, Burning Avalanche, Human the Robot, Talk to Strangers, DJ Swamp.
Featured below are 3 bands that have graced our Do512 Lounge Sessions. The Black & White Years have blown up in the past years. They’ve been featured on 101X and have worked with the legendary Jerry Harrison of Talking Heads. Wild Child will be sure to offer it’s great indie folk sound into the mix, as well as Leopold & His Fiction with their back roads country rock n roll.
For only $25, this festival will be a steal of a deal. Come make a camping night of it and have fun with fireworks, water balloons, music, and food.
