Charlie Mars with Griffin House at The Belmont 9/07

If you listen to KGSR, chances are you have heard them play a Charlie Mars song or two. Since his debut album, Mars has been entertaining fans with his singer-songwriter melodies.  Charlie Mars is what you would call a classic grass-root musician, a musician who established his fame playing one stage at a time.

Charlie Mars started his career under no direction but his own. Mars got his start by selling his car and borrowing money to produce his debut album, Broken Arrow, which sold around 40,000 copies.

Mars takes pride in his ability to add an individual twist to the classic singer-song writer genre. His new album, Blackberry Light, presents a gifted confident writer. This album has been deemed a milestone work in Mars’s musical collection, with jazzy tones and an uncommon use off space and intensity. Fans of famed “Like A Bird, Like a Plane” will no doubt fall in love with this new masterpiece.

Mars, who recorded debut album in Austin, will be back in Austin on September 7th for a performance at The Belmont.  Griffin House, who wrote his first song for his high school sweet heart, will be joining Mars on stage.

Here in Austin, it’s no secret that we love music. It’s also no secret that we love charities. It’s definitely no secret that we also love events that combine both, charities and music! This performance with Charlie Mars and Griffin House at The Belmont will benefit the FitPlay Foundation, an organization whose mission is to provide athletic training in a safe environment for children in hope that this service will directly impact and minimize the juvenile obesity epidemic and juvenile crime.
