William Shakespeare. It’s hard to find someone who hasn’t heard of good, old Billy. He’s arguably one of the greatest writers of all time in the English language. So, it’s no surprise that there’s a few people who like to relish in his classic Elizabethan style every once and awhile. And The Improvised Shakespeare Company has got it down to a T!
Since 2005, The Improvised Shakespeare Company has been entertaining audiences around the world with their one of a kind shows. What makes them so unique, you ask? No show is ever the same! All of their performances are completely improvised which means you get to be the first to see the magic happen. No rehearsals, no script, and all original. The group takes classic Shakespeare themes, mixes in some ‘where art thou’s’ and comes up with something so different that you can’t help but be entertained. Even if you aren’t the biggest Shakespeare fan, you are guaranteed to be shown a good time with this group’s fresh take.
The Improvised Shakespeare Company has got some street cred, too. They’ve played at numerous comedy festivals, including the well-known Montreal Just For Laughs Festival. In addition, they’ve received awards and most notably the Best Comedic Performance by a Group Award at the 2008 New York Nightlife Awards.
William Shakespeare once said, “Pleasure and action make the hours seem short.” As loyal enthusiasts of Shakespeare’s craft, the actors of the Improvised Shakespeare Company truly hold his words to heart. You are sure to be entertained and wishing for more at one of their shows. So come check them out, September 18th-23rd at 3pm at The Long Center for Performing Arts!
