Joshua Bingaman made his way to Austin from San Francisco in 2004 with his wife Sara, and soon after opened the popular cafe and hangout known as Progress Coffee. In 2009 Bingaman founded HELM Boots, a rapidly emerging company that offers high quality boots designed in Austin and handcrafted in the USA. Based in Austin, HELM Boots has quickly made a name for themselves as a brand that reliably blends stylish integrity with durable handmade construction.
Using classic designs and high quality materials, they make durable, comfortable, hand crafted boots with style and integrity. After initially having the boots made in Istanbul with materials from all over the globe, all HELM Boots are now fully American made, designed in Austin and built in Maine from US- sourced materials and leathers.
To help celebrate their first line of hand crafted boots made in the U.S.A., join us at the HELM Boots USA launch party at Easy Tiger on Sunday, September 23rd from 5:00-9:30. This will be the debut of the HARD WORK film series, six short documentaries directed by talented filmmaker Ryan Scheer and scored by local duo All in The Golden Afternoon.
The films feature seven locals who personify the HELM spirit through hard work and creatively driven lives. In addition, there will be classic motorcycles on display from Revival Cycles, a DJ set, food from Easy Tiger and drinks from Austin Beer Works. Check out the trailer below to get a sneak peek:

HELM Boots is also honored to be a finalist in the American Made Audience Choice contest created by the editors of Martha Stewart Living magazine. They are searching for the rising stars in a new generation of small-business owners. Ten American Makers whose work share the quality, beauty, inspiration, possibility, and creativity embodied by Martha Stewart will be selected.
The winning entrepreneur will receive $10,000 to further his or her business, in addition to being featured in the December issue of Martha Stewart Living. The Audience Choice winner will also win a trip to New York City to be part of the inaugural “American Made” event, an artisanal fair in Vanderbilt Hall at Grand Central Terminal on October 17 and 18.
