The first time I saw Here We Go Magic was at the Todd P Party at SXSW in 2009. Somehow this band stood out amongst the many music samples in the endless buffet that is SXSW. Here We Go Magic reminded me of an understated Givers, with their poppy beats and high energy tunes.
Here We Go Magic’s live show is so entrancing that, while playing a set at the Glastonbury Music Festival, they even found a fan in Thom Yorke and Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich. Godrich liked the band so much that he offered to produce their newest album A Different Ship.
Now listen to Here We Go Magic‘s single ‘How Do I Know’ and try not to get obsessed.
Austin band, Oh No Oh My‘s catchy music evokes some emotional responses of their own. I once played ‘I Have No Sister’ for my own sister and she started crying (true story). The band’s live shows boast the type of bubbly energy and feel good ballads that belong in Target commercials.
If you are feeling sad and want something to brighten your day just play Oh No Oh My.
Other Austin locals, Boy Friend are a pair not to be overlooked. This dream pop band, who are ironically two girls, can easily trance you into fandom.
