ACL is over. Tourists linger for a few remaining days, trying to work through massive hangovers and 3 day music benders. The music will not stop there. Those of us veteran music lovers know that the bands will continue to stream into our numerous music venues and grace us with profuse talent. Antone’s to the rescue!
This Thursday, New Monsoon will delight us with their collective rock jams. No stranger to Austin City Limits, the 5-piece collaborative effort combines a wide range of genres, including world music and psychedelic rock. A 3 part harmony is just an added bonus to their blend of electronic and acoustic instrumentation. Established in 1998, classmates Bo Carper and Jeff Miller began their journey, adding keyboards, drums and bass to complete the California quintet. New Monsoon has shared the stage with the likes of fellow jam bands Umphrey’s McGee, String Cheese Incident and Keller Williams.
One year ago, the group made a pass through Texas, recording what would become New Monsoon Live, the first release from the current members and rumored to be the best grouping to date. They will jam out at Antone’s on Thursday night starting at 9pm along with Don Chani. This will be the perfect recovery from the madness that is Austin City Limits. Do512 has tickets to give away…if you’re into free stuff.
Friday, you can find country duo Rosehill releasing their new album, Crooked Thoughts. Highschool buddies and Texas natives, Blake Myers and Mitch McBain, follow up their album White Lines and Stars with the much anticipated sophomore album, produced by Radney Foster and Jay Clementi. The duo has come into their own light with a joint creative vision and fine-tuned songwriting. “When The Flame Goes Out” is the first single off the album set to be released on October 30. Come to Antone’s to snag an early copy and hear the new material in all of it’s live glory. Joining in the celebration will be Erik Larson and Peacemaker and Carter Beckworth & the 1099’s. Oh, and more free tickets HERE!
