Get Your Soul: Galactic and JJ Grey & Mofro @ Stubb’s 10/27

Anyone feeling a little funky?  Are your jazz hands in need of some shimmying? Are you yearning for an out of space experience?

They may come from New Orleans, but Galactic’s sound is out of this world.  The now 6-piece ensemble brings the funk with an organ, saxophone, drums, guitar, and bass.  Engulfed in the local Louisiana funk scene, the group originally began as an octet, harnessing their own funky style.  With influences that include hip-hop, blues, and electronic, the sound has evolved into a unique, modern, jazz/funk experience that embraces the spirit of the Big Easy.  With vocalist Corey Glover in tow,  the magnetic field will be in full force on Saturday (10/27) at Stubb’s.

In the theme of southern charm, JJ Grey & Mofro will also lend their raspy vocals and soul quenching style to the night.  With deep roots in Southern rock, soul, and classic country, the crooner has no shortage of accolades.  With 5 studio albums, an insane amount of television appearances, and stage credit including Lenny Kravitz, Ben Haper, and B.B. King- this band is no joke.  A full horns section backs Grey’s sweet melodies.  This much soul should be sinful.

If you need some soul saving, some music loving, or some jazz grooving, then Stubb’s is your destination on Saturday.  The weather is perfect for this all ages show.  You can get tickets here, or try your luck at a free pair.
