This one’s going out to all my reggae fans in the building. Where y’all at? We’ve been searching far and wide for some kickass shows for y’all to hit up, and what we found is pretty sweet. The fine folks over at Domination are hooking Austin up with a show featuring not one, but two awesome headlining reggae/ska/punk/crazy cool acts. Hailing from the sunny beaches of California, both Iration and The Expendables are going to be bringing the fresh jams to Emo’s next Thursday night 11/01 for what is shaping up to be a great night full of good vibes.
First up, let me tell you why you’re going to love Iration. They may have gotten their big start in Santa Barbara, but all the members originally come from Hawaii, the lovely island from where the band obtained many of the influences behind their signature sound. Their music is a laid back blend of reggae and dub, with some forays into the chill aspects of surf rock. With two albums and three EP’s of ultra relaxing beach music including hits like the smooth “Timebomb” and “Cookie Jar“, which reached number one in Hawaii radio in 2008. With multiple tours under their belt opening for ska greats like Pepper, they’ve definitely become experts and creating stellar beach/ska music that will be perfect for chilling/skanking all night long. As a treat, here’s a great video of the group playing an acoustic version of their wonderful song “Falling”. They’re sure to have more energy with the full band live, but it’s a nice indication of how cool these guys are.
