Why not join hundreds of others?  The only thing better than watching Mac’s boys crush some Lobos….and that’s a pretty great thing indeed….is watching it happen in real-time with cold beer and burnt-orange-wearing buddies!

Fantasy Football Draft at Black Sheep Lodge

Fantasy Football Draft at Black Sheep Lodge

It’s almost that time of year, folks:  time for the air to turn crisp, leaves to change their colors, and visions of your fantasy football team wreaking havoc and taking home all of the glory.  Fantasy football seems to grow exponentially with each passing season.  The “sport” gives people yet another reason to get together to drink some brewskis and talk some trash about opposing teams.  Let’s not forget about the ladies.  This is an event where they can not only learn about the manliest sport around, but they can also have world domination on their own turf, literally.

The next few weeks are critical to the whole season.  Pre-season games will highlight players to watch and special attention will be paid to returning injured players- all factoring into fantasy football drafts everywhere.  These drafts are serious business.  You could lose an arm choosing somebody’s top quarterback pick.  Jokes, jokes.  In all seriousness, fantasy football does get serious but as serious as something can get while having some beers and good times.

Black Sheep Lodge was just voted Best Sports Bar in Austin and for good reason.  With 20 big screen HD TVs, an expansive game room, inviting patio, delicious burgers and an extensive beer selection, it is the premier place to catch a game.  The BSL, as some may call it, is hosting fantasy football drafts with packages to fit groups of all sizes with full A/V capabilities and food and drink specials.  Save the house party draft for your boring friends and go to Black Sheep for a no muss, judgement-free Fantasy Football draft to get your season started right.  Just shoot an email to and let the games begin.

So if you show up in the opposing team’s (hideous) colors, you get $1 off Every. Single. Beer. You. Drink. We call them Mercy Pints, and they’re just as refreshing as a Saturday afternoon win. That’s right, we’re looking out for ya, we figured watching your team get beat by Mack’s boys was rough enough. Team loyalty goes rewarded!

Etiquette Vintage Designs – Not Your Average Game Day Attire

Ahhh Football nation aka the great state of Texas. As a girl that was not born in Texas yet ran here as fast as she good, I am an alumna of two Big 12 schools and now live in a city with a third that prides itself on rocking an insane amount of burnt orange. The football craze hit me hard and it’s a rare Saturday when you won’t see me in front of a TV cheering (or yelling) and loving every second of it.

What’s not cute is most of the clothes I acquired in college to wear to these particular games.

While there’s nothing better than a good football game on a brisk, fall day surrounded by other people who share your love for a team, there is a lack of unique game day clothing. T-shirts are fine for 8 am algebra, but there’s something to be said about having more sophisticated options that still rep the school pride with poise.

That’s where Etiquette Vintage Designs enters in. Richard Eric Renteria is the owner and creator of Etiquette Vintage Design and is a proud alumnus of the University of Texas. Taking beautiful vintage pieces, official university patches, custom embroidery touches and a custom-made shopping model, Etiquette Vintage is bringing back the idea of a classic, custom collegiate jacket that’s more than just school spirit apparel but a custom keepsake as well.

“I felt like society was getting lazy and unruly,” Renteria said. It seemed that kids on campus were slacking in dress and manners.”

We’re looking at you Nintendo pajamas at 2pm Geology.

Sure, you could get that game day t-shirt for the OU game for $30 and proceed to wear it 5 days in a row along with every other kid in the Chemistry building . (Like I said, I was in college once…I know what’s up.) OR you could get a sweater that is custom made for you and your school and wear it for the rest of your days. Sure, it’s more of an investment than the T, but it will be the one college clothing item that avoids that crackled screen printed problem and stands out in a dismal sea of North Face. Imagine dropping your kids off at college in a sweater you wore at that very same college at their age. That would REALLY drive them crazy. “Back in my day sonny…”

Not only is Etiquette Vintage doing campuses everywhere a huge favor by offering students and alumni classier collegiate clothing options, but they aim to help society as a whole. Some proceeds from the vintage sales go to help college students pay for their textbooks.

By turning old treasures into new keepsakes, Etiquette Vintage Designs caught our eye and while we love their pieces, we love their ideals behind bringing back old-school mannerisms more. We’re not the only eyes they’ve caught either. They’ve been seen at Austin Fashion Week, SXSW and Study Breaks magazine and famous folks are beginning to sport them with a vengeance too.

Fun Fun Fun Fest performer, Childish Gambino and hilarious Community co-star, Donald Glover rocks Etiquette vintage along with Rap Pack’s Dappa Dan, Thievery Corporation’s DJ El John Selector and Ashley Greene of the Twilight Series.

Each piece is made custom so if you’re looking for a rare school treasure or just want to see what Etiquette Vintage Designs can whip up for you, visit them at or on Twitter. If you hit em up, tell em Do512 are the ones helping you be smart and sexy.

Now that really is cute.

Celebrity Softball Jam

If Springtime for Hitler makes Deutschland happy and gay, what does springtime mean for Austinites?
The answer: Daily Double. Baseball and rock ‘n’ roll. (And big ass checks?) Reckless Kelly and the Round Rock Express are up to bat once again when the 2011 Third Annual Celebrity Softball Jam returns to Dell Diamond. With proceeds benefiting the Dell Valley Little League and The Miracle League of Austin, that’s what I call a TRIPLE PLAY!

Gates open at noon and the game begins at 1 PM, so get there early to guarantee you don’t miss what is sure to be the hardest rocking National Anthem you see this baseball season.

Participants this year include your gracious hosts, Reckless Kelly, recipients of such awards as Best Country Band (Austin Music Awards) and Best Live Band (Lone Star Music Award); Micky & the Motorcars, taking a break from their grueling 200-days-a-year touring schedule; Bo Bice (…nuff said) and many more celebrities with a love of the great American pastime.

So while springtime in Deutschland may evoke images of stormtroopers, moustaches, and the master race, come kick off springtime American style:  with baseball, bands, and a cold, refreshing Budweiser. Oh, and did I mention FIREWORKS to follow the game? AMERICA, you know the rest!

Proceeds from the event benefit the Dell Valley Little League, The Miracle League (a program whose mission is to create opportunities for children, disabled or not, to play on the baseball field), and other local organizations. Reckless Kelly’s Celebrity Softball Jam has raised over $65,000 for these foundations in the last two years alone. Tickets are $20 on the day of the show, and only $15 if purchased in advance. Children 12 and under get in FREE when accompanied by a paying adult.

The 3rd Annual Reckless Kelly Celebrity Softball Jam

Black Sheep Lodge Knows Sports

We here at Do512 Headquarters have made it no secret that we’re madly in love with the Black Sheep Lodge. Located off Oltorf & South Lamar just a block away from our office space, the Sheep has become our home away from home, always there to fill our bellies with hot food and cold drinks after a long day of work. In fact we all pretty much camped out there during the World Cup last year, taking advantage of their Wi-Fi while catching all of the games on their fleet of big screen HD TVs.

You can check out the scheduled UEFA matches, and the March Madness viewing times, on the Do512 venue listing.

Delta Epsilon Psi's 8th Annual Sugar Free Bowl Nov.6

Playing for a cause! The Sugar Free Bowl, hosted by Delta Epsilon Psi Fraternity, is an annual flag football tournament to fight juvenile diabetes. All proceeds go directly to the renowned Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation where they can be trusted to implicate innovative technologies and procedures and a diverse research portfolio. Vishal Bhagat, a brother of Delta Epsilon Psi who had been diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes, was the visionary of this event. Since his passing in 2006, the Vishal Bhagat Foundation was created to increase awareness of this disease by informing of its causes and hopefully reducing its infliction. There are also plans to expand the tournament in other cities across the country to help benefit the JDRF. Check out their website for further information on the event.

This will mark the 8th year of this worthy event which will be held on UT’s Whitaker Intramural Fields. In the past five years, this particular event has successfully raised over $100,000 to JDRF and plans to keep the ball rolling into this weekend.  There will be three leagues including a Co-ed league, and anyone who wanted to get involved was more than welcome. This year’s tournament boasts hundreds of players and volunteers and offers over $2000 in prizes and trophies. Bring your pee-wee playing friends, your family members or your own organization to root them on from the stands.

Also, if those Saturday morning sleepies hit you don’t fret because the Amp Energy folks will be out there passing out free Sugar Free Amp to keep your eyelids on that game. Your attendance also gets you the chance to win some of the tons of the giveaways the organization has set up for those who come out and show ‘em some love. Fun times all around.
