Aside from a sound overtly influenced by classic California punk rock, Rise Against is known for being one of the most politically-minded bands on the planet. Less abrasive than Rage Against the Machine and wayyyy less pretentious than Bono, Rise Against stands by their beliefs and ethics and, for once, proves to us all that an acute sociopolitical awareness can indeed enhance music—in other words, it doesn’t annoy the crap out of us.
