Electric Run Austin at The Travis County Expo Center- 3/30

Electric Run™ Dazzling Night Time 5k Run Walk

So, imagine Electric Daisy Carnival with (hopefully) less drugs and a lot more physical activity. The Electric Run Austin at The Travis County Expo Center culminates a trance-induced combination of electronic music and a 5k run that brings a type of participation art to a colorful fruition. Artists and lighting technicians from the ranks of Coachella and Dreamworks Animations will create an experience fit for a candy-kid dream (see: definition).

Neon, fuzzy boots, flower bikini tops and a bunch of sweaty bodies will run (probably shuffle) around the 3.1 miles of track that will have music at every corner and a water station (thank god). Here is what the track will look like:

There will be a participation cap at 10,000 people and in the electronic music world, there are plenty more than a few thousand dedicated fans to the scene. That said, the event is already 90 percent sold and you should register now either individually for $55 or register as a group of four or more for $50 per person.

But wait! If you use the promo code “DO512″ (case sensitive) you will receive 10 percent off your ticket price, or you can click ‘like’ on the event page for a chance to win a free pair of tickets.

Once you register, you must go to a packet pickup location to receive your bib, participant shirt, glow kit/accessories and yes, I said bib. Drool on.

BINGO PLAYERS @ Haven this Friday

You won’t find a room of old ladies chain smoking and playing bingo at Haven this Friday. What you will find is a house packed with party people shaking their groove things to some awesome electro house and dance music.

Paul Bäumer and Maarten Hoogstraten are the masterminds behind Bingo Players. Their top ten hit, “Cry (Just A Little)”, has paved the road for all the success the Dutch duo is now enjoying.  With artists like Kid Cudi and Flo Rida requesting remixes and mash-ups, we will be seeing a lot more from these two in the future.  Their seamless style and simple beats will have you feeling electric on the dance floor.

Bingo Players‘ recent string of sold-out shows will make you want to get to Haven early, so you’re not the person at the door holding nothing but a glow stick.

The ultimate dance experience this weekend with MSTRKRFT @Emo’s East

With Mother’s Day inching it’s way closer, we’re sure many of you good sons and daughters are putting aside your hard-earned cash for a special present your mother will love. Wait, don’t spend it all though! …Not that we don’t want you to get mom something totally awesome, we just think you should take the opportunity to first hear about what kind of amazing madness you can treat yourself to if only you save $30 of it for this weekend.

Saturday, May 12, MSTRKRFT, along with Araabmuzik, Bird Peterson and Applied Pressure will be turning Emo’s East into one huge bumpin’ boom boom room.

If you’re a electronic music enthusiast, chances are you’re more than familiar with MSTRKRFT. For those who aren’t, here’s a lil’ must-know info: The group is comprised of two guys with serious talent – Toronto musician, Jesse F. Keeler and studio wizard, Al-P. Their sound is a crafted mix of house, hip-hop, grime, punk, and all kinds of electronic experimentation rolled into one. Lastly, their name (pronounced “Master Craft”, not as a super long acronym) is synonymous with master remix-ologists. In fact, their remixing skills scored them a Grammy nomination for Annie and Wolfmother’s track “Woman”. Take a listen.

“We’re interested in making people feel like they want to dance, at least a little bit, so it’s all about whatever it takes to get people there.” says AL-P.  ‘Nuf said. If you’re in the dancing mood, allow yourself to become part of the huge cult following of obsessed MSTRKRFT dance fans.

If you really want to dance but think $30 is a little steep, just make it a point to save $6 a day until the weekend – we know you can do it :) Especially when acts like Araabmuzik and Bird Peterson will also be taking stage. Check out videos of all these groups in one place on our event page. While you’re there, be sure to click “I like it” for your chance to enjoy Saturday night at Emo’s East for free!

If you got your dancing skills from your mama, maybe you can share this awesome gift of music and night of dancing with her… If not, go on and treat yourself.

Thanks for stoppin’ by :)
