Antone’s Nightclub paved the way for budding blues musicians and music venues, converting Austin into the Live Music Capital of the World. This world-renowned venue has launched the careers of greats like Stevie Ray Vaughn, Los Lonely Boys, and Bob Schneider, just to name a few. There’s not enough time to list the countless famed musicians to take the stage at Antone’s in the past 37 years. The month of July begins the celebration of the Austin cornerstone’s anniversary.
A kickoff party, dedicated to legends Doyle Bramhall and Hubert Sumlin, will be held on July 11, 2012, to commence the festivities. This will be the grandest of birthday parties, culminating some of the best rock and blues musicians to date. The lineup includes talented Texas natives: Doyle Bramhall II, Marcia Ball, Denny Freeman, Malford Milligan, Derek O’Brien, Mike Flanigan, Jason Moeller, Larry Fulcher, George Rains, and Casper Rawls.
This is a chance for music fans to pay homage to a venue that has surpassed all others, a history that has shaped music for generations, and musicians that now carry the torch. God Bless the late Clifford Antone for all that he contributed to our culture.
