MedRebels 2nd Annual Cell-ebration @ The Belmont 05/30

Come out to The Belmont and cell-ebrate! MedRebels Foundation is hosting their second annual cell-ebration and fundraiser for stem cell independence. MedRebels Foundation began a petition to encourage the Texas Medical Board and the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to endorse a patient’s entitlement to use one’s own adult stem cells.

Here’s an overview of the great debate: The FDA recently communicated that patients must be prudent and insure that adult stem cell therapies be approved by the FDA or considered experimental, and consequently be subject to the FDA regulatory process. MedRebels believes that if this process is subjected to such burdensome regulation, one would be restricted from using their own stem cells in an approach that the patient and physician deem appropriate.

Basically, it’s a dispute between whether a patient and his/her physician or the FDA has the right to make decisions regarding one’s health in regards to adult stem cell procedures.

Within the state of Texas, MedRebels prevailed. On April 13th, the Texas Medical Board approved the experimental use of adult stem cells contingent on the regulation that physicians are under an Institutional Review Board. The use of adult stem cells will continue to be a therapeutic option made between the patient and their physician.

Now back to the fun stuff: MedRebels wants to cell-ebrate this grand success, continue to spread the word, and be recognized on a national level. What’s a better way to cell-ebrate than with a cell-ebration?!

The party is this Wednesday, May 30th, at The Belmont. Tickets are only $25 each, and all proceeds benefit the MedRebels Foundation. Entertainment will be provided by the 2012 Texas Music Awards’ Vocal Group of the Year, Brad Dunn and Ellis County Band.
