There aren’t many places in town where you can catch a cross section of the best LOCAL bands Austin has to offer, wolf down LOCAL sausage made in-house, and wash it all down with a cold LOCAL micro-brew. The only respectable establishment to do so (in this writer’s humble opinion) is Frank, the venerable hot dog king of the Warehouse District. LOCAL production company WHITESIREN is presenting a weekend of festivities dubbed LOCAL NIGHT for LOCAL PEOPLE (notice a theme). You can get discounted entry, and have a chance to win a special VIP package, by RSVP’ing on Do512.
Friday, Feb. 24th will feature electro-dance wizards GOBI, a three-piece act that combines club shaking beats with the explosive energy of a live band. Oh-Look-Out is an infectious indie pop-rock band that is the side project of Built by Snow singer/songwriter JP Pfertner. BK & Mr. E is an indie-electronic duo that is known for their distinct layering of sounds and has been compared to the likes of Queen and Prince. End Wave projects a thousand variations of sonic jives, bouncing bass-driven beats, psychedelic synths, and catchy lyrics. Sleep Talk is an electronic-rock act that cites Passion Pit and The Cure as major influences.
Saturday, Feb. 25th will include Oh No Oh My, the nationally recognized indie rock four-piece known for their catchy songwriting. Stereo is a Lie blends sheer sonic rock power with melodic song craft and masterful showmanship. The Austin by-way-of Florida artists New Roman Times will be throwing down their new wave style. Dead Black Hearts blends organic instrumentals with electronic, programmed rhythm and production, although they’ve been focusing on songwriting as of late. Last but not least, Western Ghost House will bring it all home with their unique mix of Baroque pop and instrumental post-rock.
So come out to Frank and support all things LOCAL. Tickets to both shows are $10 at the door or $8 with a RSVP on Do512. Don’t forget about the chance to win a special VIP package!
