Alamo Drafthouse Presents: Blazing Saddles Quote-Along Beer Party @ Republic Square Park 4/19

Following a wildly successful kickoff of last year’s Off-Centered Fest, complete with a packed downtown party with the best TX breweries in attendance, Alamo Drafthouse has decided to give it another go, this time with a Western twist. This year, the film of choice is Blazing Saddles, and I’m sure you have an inkling of what to expect – Western themed activities, beer fit for even the most rugged cowboy and all the accessorizing appropriate for the occasion. This quote-along is going to be wild, and with the best, most delicious local beer at your disposal, it shouldn’t be hard to have a good time.

A complete lineup of the beers in attendance is available for your peruse, and each will be available as a 4-ounce pour for just $3. Get to Republic Square Park early April 19th to get your hands on the rare and extra special beers- they’ll go fast! Yes, Republic Square Park – outdoor movies aren’t just for the kids, folks! Some of the brewmasters responsible  for crafting the very beer that you’ll be drinking will be at the event, so be sure to ask them questions and learn their beer secrets. Also in attendance will be the Alamo Executive Chef John Bullington, known for crafting totally awesome themed-food for the movies. He’s the man behind the quirky match-up of movies and meals at the Alamo Drafthouse, and he’ll be working a tent on the grounds, selling amazing themed menu items.

Here’s what your admission ticket will include ($10 in advance, $12 day of the show): A wild and crazy Western spoof screening of Blazing Saddles with subtitles, a cap gun to shoot people with (if you want) and a giant pot of beans, simmering before you at the front of the screen. Walk right on up anytime to fill yourself with a bowl of beans. Feel free. Just don’t sit near me.

Here’s where things get almost too fun – in honor of the legendary ending of the film, a plethora of pies will be available and a booth, where you can pie the hardworking brewers to help raise money for the non-profit Texas Craft Brewers Guild.

Also keep your eyes peeled for some special guests! This is sure to be a memorable quote-along, as the outdoor location allows for more craziness and fun. Gates open at 6pm on April 19th at Republic Square Park, and the movie will start around 8pm, when the sun goes down. Keep in mind that this event is cash only, although an ATM will be located onsite.
