Band of the Year 2012 at ACL Live

In an effort to get where they’ll be on Saturday, 200 bands first sent three MP3 copies of their songs, a band bio, band photos and $25 to Band of the Year 2012.

This weekend, sending those entry materials will pay off for six bands who will get to play in front of 2,700 screaming fans, industry celebs, agents and producers.

After performing in front of judges in Austin, Dallas and Houston, the six chosen finalists will perform at 7:30 p.m. June 16 at Austin City Limits Live at the Moody Theatre for the Band of the Year 2012 title.

The finalists include LittleBrave, Soul Track Mind, Larry g(EE), theRESPONSE, Dirty River BoysVallejo, and Tje Austin. Following their performances, an Austin all-star line up including singers Patrice Pike, Ginger Leigh, John Pointer, Wendy Colonna and a back-up band including drummer Nina Singh, bassist Jeff Botta and keyboardist Stewart Cochran will close the show near midnight.

And, oh man, is the winner of the competition gonna get hooked up. They’ll get a cash prize, music gear, tons of publicity and a headline performance in November for the Formula One United States Grand Prix race week event.

This entire event is partnered with Formula Expo with the mission to combine a love for music and motorsports, and to get excited about the upcoming Grand Prix.

For 10 weeks these bands have been looking forward to this event. You should too.

Tickets are $35 for balcony seats, $45 for floor standing or $200 for VIP. Get them at www.acl-live.com.
